Brantham Athletic First team squad

Ben Spencer (defender) - Ben is a level headed utility player, a true club man. Keeps it simple rarely giving the ball away and turned in some impressive showings at the back last season. Ben has been with the club a long time and came through the ranks to become a valuable asset to the club in the Ridgeons League.
Simon Mann (attacking midfielder/defender) - Pacey, tall wing back. Adds explosive movement all over the pitch. Possesses an awesome right peg and brings the fans to their feet with his forward runs. Simon has the ability to change a game and notched up an impressive hat-trick against Thetford Town last season. Fully fit after sustaining a nasty injury playing for Colchester United.
David Grimwood (attacking midfielder) - David joined us from Felixstowe & Walton United and has proved to be a big asset to the team. Likes to be involved in every attack going forward but is also prepared to do his share of defending when needed. A top class midfield general. In 2007/2008 David scored the winning goal as his SIL team Grundisburgh won the Suffolk County Senior Cup final beating Hadleigh United 3-2.
Jonathan Crouch (defender/midfield) - ‘Jono’ picked up a bad leg injury towards the end of last season and is now starting to get back ionto light training and let's hope he is soon back on first team duty again.. Can play in midfield or at the back and ‘Jono’ is an uncompromising defender and is comfortable on the ball.
Oliver Mann (forward) - ‘Ollie’ is a player who came through our youth system and rejoined the club at the start of the season after having been with Harwich for a while. A very hard working and quick front man and certainly knows how to find the back of the net. Our leading goal scorer last season with 20 league goals. Hard to knock off the ball and causes opponents problems with his pace and ability.
Jack Sibbons (defender/midfield) - Brantham signed Jack Sibbons from Harwich & Parkeston. Jack is a player who wants to get involved in everything and he is equally at home at the back as he is in midfield. Jack is one of those player who puts everything into the game.
Ryan Bedingfield (goalkeeper) - Was the first team keeper in 2007/2008 when we won the SIL Championship. Spent the early part of last season at Harwich and Parkeston and East Bergholt before rejoining us. On his day a top class goalkeeper and Ryan is a very good shot stopper.
Kieran Lawler (attacking midfield) - Kieran came through the youth set-up and an energetic player who has lots of potential. Was the club's leading goal scorer, playing up front, when we won promotion frrom the SIL. Quick into the tackle and certainly hits goals home when he is given the chance.
Sean Gunn (forward) - Another player who came through the youth set-up and Sean has fast feet and an even faster mouth and has a great future in the game. Sean is the sort of player who can turn any game in a split second. Has the pace, ability and skill to leave defenders flat footed.
Lee Grimwood (midfield/striker)
Lee, a proven striker, joined the club from SIL senior team Grundisburgh, just prior to Christmas. Lee has been top goal scorer in the senior division of the SIL and has already made his mark in the Ridgeons League. Notched up a very impressive hat-trick, one of many I have a feeling, away to Downham Town. Lee has electric pace and his ability to run at defenders and beat them is great to watch.
Adam Bloss (midfield)
Adam joined us from Premier Division side Harwich and Parkeston after the first team, withdrew from the Ridgeons League. Adam has also played for FC Clacton and is the sort of player who can boss the midfield and is the sort of player who thrives on challanges.
Marc Lowe
Marc Lowe signed for Brantham in November and has already made himself and an important member of the midfield with his determined tackling displays. Marc had been with Leiston and Ipswich Wanderers before joining us and has already hit home two great goals from midfield. Marc's father, Micky, was also a very well known footballer in the area.
Thomas Wray (defender)
Tom joined us towards the latter part of last season and fitted in as though he had been with us years. Started at the age of 10 with Newbuildings FC and Derry Athletic FC and had two trials for Ipswich Town. At 16 he played for Institute FC before moving to Leeds United and played in the Leeds under 17’s and under 19’s teams. Moved back home and played for three Irish clubs, Institute, Dungannon FC and Ballymena United. Tom played in the Intertoto Cup against Keflavik FC of Iceland and in the Irish C up final for Dungannon FC against Lingfield. Strong into the tackle and leads the defensive line superbly and certainly lets his fellow defenders know where he wants them.

Lewis Blanchett (forward)
Lewis joined us at the latter end of last season from Wivenhoe and has produced some fine football in his time with the club. Started playing at the age of 7 with Royal London YFC in Colchester. Went onto play a very god level of football and at 16 joined FC Clacton in the Eastern Junior Alliance. At 15 and 16 he represented Colchester United in the Youth World cup in Sweden, getting through to the quarter finals. Joined Wivenhoe in the Ridgeons Premier League before joining us. Versatile left sided player with bags of skill and confidence and has a fantastic attitude towards the game.

Dan Pryke
Dan Pryke joined us from top SIL team Grundisburgh and has proved his worth by playing some top class games, including playing at full back and in right midfield. Comfortable on the ball and has a good turn of speed.

Josh Mayhew
Josh has joined us from Woodbridge Town and had the best start possible to his Brantham career with a superb goal on his debut against Kirkley & Pakefield. Josh has been involved with Ipswich Town, Woodbridge Town, Hadleigh United, Needham Market and Woodbridge United again before joining us. A determined front man with plenty of pace and has an eye for goals.
Alex Drennan
joined us from Stanway and has already settled into the team. A hard tackling and strong player in defence Alex also likes to go forward whenever he gets the chance. Has played in the Northern League,Witham Town, Harwich and Parkeston. Alex has been with Stanway Rovers for five years and has been the skipper for the last four years and is a top class signing for Brantham.
